Transformation, Houses
An apartment on Grünerløkka, renovated and largely built by its two architect owners. The early twentieth-century block has the qualities the type is loved for, natural light, generous rooms, views over the city, and the project reworks the plan inside them. Kitchen and bedroom swap places, opening a generous shared zone at the heart of the apartment while keeping two bedrooms within a compact plan.

A kitchen island on wheels rolls aside when the dining table extends for larger gatherings, and wardrobes built from standard modules with custom-made fronts disappear into the kitchen joinery. The palette pairs the earthy tones of the Mediterranean with the plainness of Scandinavian design: long curtains line the walls for quiet and privacy, a rug with an organic outline marks the living area, and a low wainscot panel hides new wiring while serving as a narrow shelf for art.
