Residential
A detail plan for 66 new homes at Vardåsveien 6-8 in Ski, on a site where traffic noise from the county road would ordinarily rule out usable outdoor space. The plan turns the constraint into the parti: the housing itself is deployed as the noise screen. Slab blocks line the loud edges of the site, shielding a quiet inner landscape where shared gardens, play areas and a common house with a greenhouse can be used.

Within that protected ground, slab blocks and point houses step between three and five storeys with the terrain, parking goes below ground, and the site’s hollow oaks, a protected habitat in their own right, are kept as the anchors of the outdoor areas. Rainwater is handled in the open through rainbeds and green roofs. The result is a plan in which the difficult edge pays for the calm centre.
